A group of renowned South African fashion designers were hosted by Development Reimagined and showcased their works at this year's Shanghai Fashion Week.
The designers were big on telling South African and African stories using print, fabric and design. Designer Mzukisi Mbane of Imprint ZA said in an interview with CGTN that it is important for him to "design the print, attach it to culture and tell the story." The designers also reflected on the creative process they go through to come with their designs for the fashion week.
The designers also unpacked the inspirations behind their brands. Designer Jessica Jane Molebatsi of Molebatsi said she gathers some inspiration from "Chinese traditional hanfu elements" in order to showcase cultural cohesiveness and to bring China and Africa together through her designs.
