Earlier our reporter Cen Ziyuan spoke with a doctor from China's search and rescue team on disease prevention and conditions in the field.

CEN ZIYUAN CGTN "Doctor Zhu, please help us understand some of measures we have taken to protect our rescuers and survivors in the field."

ZHU WEI Director, Medical Team China Search and Rescue Team "At the current stage, we may need to consider the physical fitness of the rescuers. After a long period of work, their physical fitness will decline. When working in the rubble, debris may cause some harm to our rescue team members after their physical performance declines. Therefore, at that time, we will pay attention to personal protection on site. On the one hand, we must protect ourselves during rescue operations. At the same time, when dealing with the bodies of some victims, we must do a good job of self-protection. From a hygienic perspective, we must wear gloves, masks, goggles, helmets and other equipment."

CEN ZIYUAN CGTN Reporter "Talk to us about disease prevention."

ZHU WEI Director, Medical Team China Search and Rescue Team "In this case, we need to pay special attention to the sanitation and epidemic prevention work of the camp environment, including our food, drinking water, and the prevention of infectious diseases. Considering high temperatures and high humidity, there are a lot of mosquitoes. With that, we will face some common infectious diseases like cholera, malaria, and dengue fever. When we came, we gave each team member an oral cholera vaccine. At the same time, we have also taken some measures to prevent mosquito bites and prepared some corresponding medicines to reduce the risk of malaria or dengue fever. Through these treatments and methods, we can effectively protect the health of all members and better devote ourselves to our rescue operations."
