China Ministry of Commerce says Washington's latest round of tariffs is "unjustified and unfounded." A spokesperson said that the Section 232 tariffs had already been ruled in violation of multilateral trade rules by the WTO. Now, the U.S. is once again using it on automobiles to justify new tariffs – citing national security while in reality practicing trade protectionism.
HE YADONG Spokesperson, China's Ministry of Commerce "The global auto industry relies heavily on interconnected supply chains. The U.S. measures artificially disrupt these ties, hurting both the U.S. and its trade partners. This will neither enhance so-called national security nor support American industries – it only exposes the unilateralism, protectionism, and bullying nature of these actions."
