China's top snooker player Ding Junhui celebrated a momentous victory by defeating reigning world champion Kyren Wilson 10-5 in the quarterfinals of the WST Tour Championship, marking the 20th anniversary of his first ranking title.
Ding's journey began at the 2005 China Open, where he triumphed over Stephen Hendry in the final to claim his inaugural ranking title. Since then, he has established himself as Asia's most accomplished player, amassing a remarkable 15 ranking titles.
Ding showcased his exceptional skill with breaks of 123, 73, 76, 59, and 80, allowing him to secure a commanding 7-1 lead after the first session. He maintained his momentum in the second session, quickly taking the first frame with another break of 80.
Although Wilson battled back to grab the next two frames, Ding stayed in control. In the 12th frame, Ding jumped out to a dominant 63-0 lead before missing a red, enabling Wilson to clear the table with a break of 66, momentarily threatening a comeback.
Ding responded by clinching the 13th frame, however, extending his lead to 9-4. Wilson managed to pull one frame back with an impressive break of 106, but Ding sealed his victory with a break of 63 in the 15th frame, ultimately winning the match 10-5.
The world number nine will face four-time world champion Mark Selby in the semifinals.
