Perkins, Harvard emeritus professor of economics, told CGTN that in his view, the Trump administration's tariffs will harm the U.S. economy in the long term and could also trigger a global recession. He believes the administration – and President Trump himself – lack an understanding of macroeconomics, and that their trade policies are not constructive.
