China beat Scotland to finish World Men's Curling Championship round robin at 8-4

China defeated Scotland 9-2 in their final round-robin contest at the World Men's Curling Championship in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, on Friday, advancing to the playoffs with a record of 8-4.

The Chinese rink scored in both the second and third ends to build a 4-2 lead in the first half. They came back in even better form in the second half, stealing points in both the sixth and seventh ends. Then in the eighth, the Chinese curlers exploited a mistake by their opponents to add three more, before Scotland conceded in advance.

China's 8-4 record left the team in third place, and they will face Norway for a spot in the semifinals against Switzerland.

According to the rules of the tournament, the two teams that reach the final will secure qualification for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. If China don't make it to the final, they will take part in an Olympic qualification event in December, in a last-ditch bid to fight for their way into the Games in Italy next year.
