The highly anticipated Chinese Super League (CSL) Shanghai derby between Port and Shenhua ended in a 1-1 draw on Sunday, with veteran Yu Hanchao's header canceling out Liu Ruofan's early goal. The two sides topped the table before Sunday's game, both managing 10 points after four games.

The home side, Port, broke the deadlock just five minutes into the game when Liu regained possession at the edge of the box and scored against his former club, Shenhua. Shenhua should have equalized in the 18th minute, but Li Ke's attempt hit the post before Joao Teixeira also struck the woodwork.

In a desperate attempt to avoid defeat, Shenhua sent in Yu in the 81st minute, and the move paid off a minute later when Yu scored with a diving header. Video assistant referee (VAR) confirmed that Yu was onside during the build-up. Port were reduced to 10 players in stoppage time when Li Shuai received his second yellow card, leaving his side unable to change the outcome.

Guoan pocket first win in four games

In other action on the night, Beijing Guoan beat Zhejiang 2-0 at home to secure their first win in four games after three straight draws while giving the opponents their first loss of the season.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Zhejiang's defender failed to clear the ball out of the box. Fabio Abreu then took the ball, dodged the defense with a spin and then netted for his side to lead 1-0.

Guoan's second goal involved Abreu as well. His cross in the 56th minute was tackled into Zhejiang's goal by defender Liang Nuoheng. The capital team kept their advantage until the end of the game.
