Thu Hương, a Vietnamese floral artist, established her own workshop two years ago to introduce more creative and decorative floral art to the country. She typically features seasonal flowers, attracting many young women in Hanoi to learn the art of flower arrangement.

"Peonies have large, full blooms with uniquely layered petals that often are the focal point in floral arrangements. However, their diverse color palette makes them versatile for floral arrangements," she explains.

"I have also immersed myself in Chinese culture and encountered arts such as Chinese calligraphy and embroidery showcasing peonies. In addition to the trade of goods, the importation of Chinese culture has been quite noticeable, particularly regarding flowers," notes Thu Hương, highlighting the increasing popularity of peonies in Vietnam.

"I first learned about the cultural significance of peonies because of the Chinese drama 'Empresses in the Palace,' where peonies are depicted as a symbol of the empress," said a local floral art enthusiast. "Seeing a real peony for the first time today, I finally understand the reason. Compared to other flowers, peonies stand out – they have an undeniable regal beauty."
