China beat Thailand 5-1 at the Yongchuan International Women's Football Tournament in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Tuesday, retaining their title.
22-year-old Shao Ziqin opened the scoring for China only two minutes in when the forward got the ball from Zhang Xin and netted with her right foot. Shen then added her second just 10 minutes later with a lovely left footed shot.
Zhang Xin scored from distance at the beginning of the second half to enlarge the hosts lead to 3-0. Thailand got on the board in the 48th minute through Karnjanathat Phomsri, but Shao completed her hat-trick with a header in the 83rd minute, putting China back onto a three-goal advantage.
In the end, Wang Aifang added the final goal for the hosts to pocket a big win at home.
"I think our win is the result of the efforts made by the entire team, and I thank my teammates passing the ball to me, which provided me with chances to score," Shao said after the game.
