Three of China's rescue teams — the China Search and Rescue Team, the China International Search and Rescue Team and the Hong Kong SAR Rescue Team — have completed their mission in Myanmar and arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport on Wednesday.
Following the devastating magnitude-7.9 earthquake that struck the region, China deployed a total of four rescue teams, including one from southwest China's Yunnan Province and 10 social emergency response units, to assist with relief efforts in Myanmar. Over the past 12 days in Myanmar, Chinese rescuers, working alongside local and social emergency forces, have saved nine survivors, including one pregnant woman, recovered 59 bodies, cleared 287,000 square meters of debris and provided more than 2,000 medical consultations. According to China's Ministry of Emergency Management, this mission represents China's fastest, largest and most comprehensive international rescue operation in recent years.
