SCO Meeting in Tianjin: China's port city hosts Shanghai Cooperation Organization conference on investment in sustainable development

A conference on sustainable development has kicked off in Tianjin to further promote industrial development among Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. Wang Mengjie reports.

WANG MENGJIE, Tianjin "I'm here in Tianjin where China to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit this autumn. Among over 100 supporting activities, the first of this kind is starting."

The China-SCO conference on industrial cooperation for sustainable development is one of the activities organized during a promotion event from Wednesday to Friday. It aims to promote cooperation in fields like infrastructure, energy, mining and petrifaction. 

SOHAIL KHAN, SCO Deputy Secretary General "It provides lots of important insights for the making of future preparations for the peoples. That could be approved by the head of the states in what areas we are going to focus for this sustainable development cooperation in the future."

Nearly 400 guests, including government officials and enterprises from SCO member states attended the opening session.

Sustainable development is crucial as it addresses environmental issues, promotes economic stability and ensures social equity. While not everyone is in favor of the goal, amid news tariffs levied by the US on the rest of the world.
