The first gold medal of the mixed 3-meter & 10-meter team event at the World Aquatics Diving World Cup in Windsor, Canada, went to China on Friday after Wang Zongyuan, Chen Yuxi, Chen Yiwen and Cheng Zilong dominated the event with 478.80 points.
The four brought home the title from the last stop of the World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico in early April. Paris Olympic champion Chen Yiwen dived first for China from the women's 3-meter springboard and scored 76.50 points. She was followed by another Paris gold medalist Wang who added 89.25 points, putting their side in the lead.
In the second round, Chen Yiwen joined Cheng to get 72 points in the 3m synchronized springboard and keep China on top with 233.75 points. Then Chen Yuxi went to the women's 10m platform and finished with an impressive 90.75 points.
Though Cheng underperformed next individually with only 70.30 points, he paired with Chen Yuxi to wrap up the contest with 80 points from the 10m synchronized platform, giving China a big win in the event.
Mexico earned the silver with 412.70 points and Italy took bronze with 402.75.
