Chinese teenager Guo Muye claimed the men's solo technical gold medal on day one at the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup in Somabay, Egypt, on Friday.
Sixteen-year-old Guo is among the youngest in the pool, but the three-time world junior champion has been long identified as a potential star and added further evidence of his talent with a majestic display in the fading sunlight.
Guo attained a combined score of 224.5450 points for his "Wizard" themed routine to top the standings and landed his first senior solo crown. The result was 14 points more than he achieved at this year's first stop of the World Cup in France, where he finished in fourth place.
