China's foreign trade in goods in yuan-denominated terms expanded 1.3 percent year on year to 10.3 trillion yuan ($1.41 trillion) in the first quarter of this year, data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) showed on Monday.

China's export volume stood at 6.13 trillion yuan, increasing 6.9 percent compared to a year ago. Despite growing external headwinds, "the sky won't fall" for China's export, a top official from GAC told a press conference on the same day.

ASEAN remained China's largest trading partner in the first quarter, with total trade growing 7.1 percent to 1.71 trillion yuan, accounting for 16.6 percent of China's total foreign trade volume. Vietnam was China's largest trading partner within ASEAN.
