Japanese architect in China explores human-architecture connection

Shuhei Aoyama, a Japanese architect who has lived in China for 20 years, is well-known for appearing on a popular TV show in 2015, where he redesigned a hutong living space. His work now spans the revitalization of old urban districts, commercial areas and even international projects. 

With the upcoming 2025 World Expo being held in Osaka, CGTN reporter Yang Yan spoke with Shuhei Aoyama to understand his views on the relationship between human and architecture, as well as the role of the World Expo in fostering international communication.
