Eight of nine players competing for China claimed victories to highlight the second day of the group stage at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Cup in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Tuesday.

In men's singles action, World No. 1 Lin Shidong of China swept past Australia's Hwan Bae 4-0. Wang Chuqin of China defeated Australia's Aditya Sareen by the same scoreline.

Earlier, Tomislav Pucar of Croatia beat Sareen 4-0, meaning Wang and Pucar will face off for a spot in the knockout phase. Wang said he expects a tough battle on Wednesday.

In women's singles competition, defending champion and World No. 1 Sun Yingsha smashed Canada's Mo Zhang 4-0. Wang Manyu faced a tougher challenge against Sweden's Linda Bergstrom, holding her ground to prevail 3-1.

Other players representing China who notched victories were Chen Xingtong, Lin Gaoyuan, Kuai Man, and Liang Jingkun. Wang Yidi was upset 3-1 by Jianan Yuan of France.

This year's ITTF World Cup features 48 male and 48 female players, and runs from Monday through Sunday.
