As Chinese President Xi Jinping wrapped up his state visit to Vietnam, China and Vietnam have pledged to deepen people-to-people exchanges. In Hekou County, southwest China's Yunnan Province, just across the river from Vietnam's Lao Cai, the border is more than a line on the map. It's a space where lives meet. From tour guides and restaurant owners to translators and performers, many Vietnamese work, live, or travel regularly across the border, contributing to a unique rhythm of cross-border life.
