More than 600 years ago, during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Chinese admiral Zheng He led seven maritime expeditions, reaching Southeast Asia, South Asia and even as far as Africa. The fleet picked Malaysia multiple times as its destination.
Despite the difficulties and dangers they face during the challenging trips, the fleet promoted cultural exchanges and trade along the way, sowing the seed of friendship between China and Malaysia.
Today, visa-free policies and easier transportation enable the two peoples to move freely and more frequently. Tengku Faizwa Tengku Razif of Malaysia, member of the royal family of Selangor State, told CGTN host Tian Wei during an exclusive interview about how Chinese and Malaysians are getting closer under the visa-free policy. Take a listen.
