More than 100,000 hectares of wild forsythia are in full bloom across the misty mountains of Anze County, Shanxi Province. Forsythia is a major herb in traditional Chinese medicine, known for its heat-clearing and detoxifying properties. Anze produces a quarter of China's total annual output, with an industry worth over 100 million yuan, or $14 million. The flourishing forsythia trade has increased incomes and boosted local economic development.
