"The Chinese Language - Brilliant with Charm!"

In 2010 the United Nations designated April 20 as "UN Chinese Language Day". This date corresponds to "Grain Rain", one of China's 24 solar terms, marking the day when Cangjie, the legendary inventor of Chinese characters, created them.

In honor of the 15th anniversary of UN Chinese Language Day, Professor Peteris Pildegovičs, a Sinologist from Latvia, and his students organized a series of activities to promote and disseminate Chinese culture. And a song has been composed called "The Chinese Language - Brilliant with Charm!". As well as vividly depicting the thriving vitality brought by spring rains nourishing crops, it also praises Cangjie for creating written Chinese and emphasizes the role of language serving as a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding. In short, the song is a joyous celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity and equality. Professor Peteris Pildegovičs, who is 87 years old, also made a heartfelt appearance in the video to express his congratulations.
