April 20 is Chinese Language Day on the United Nations calendar. This day aims to promote Chinese culture and the beauty of diversity. The date was selected from the Chinese solar term Guyu, or "grain rain," in tribute to Cangjie, the mythological creator of Hanzi, the Chinese characters. Some students of Chinese shared with CGTN what appeals to them about one of the world's most widely spoken languages.
