Unearthed in 1942 from a Chu Tomb in Zidanku, China's Hunan Province, these silk manuscripts are the earliest-known examples of text on fabric discovered in China. As well as being of immense artistic and cultural value, the mythological and numerological content of the text is of tremendous importance to the worldwide scholarly community. Yet this priceless Chinese national treasure remains overseas. Let's hope for its speedy return to China – home, where it belongs.
