On April 16, the new Chinese translation of Finland's national literary treasure, the Moomins series, was officially launched at the Finnish Embassy in China.
Since its creation, the Moomin series has become an integral part of Finnish national identity, embodying the Finnish philosophy of life and the culture's deep love for nature. The year 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Finland and the 80th anniversary of the Moomins. The release of the Chinese edition of Moomin books represents another fruitful achievement in cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.
To know the Moomins is to understand Finnish culture, said Finnish Ambassador to China, Mikko Kinnunen. "Literary stories can build bridges that connect different cultures. Through the Moomins, we can better understand one another."
