Sun Yujie clinched her second consecutive gold medal of the year by triumphing in the women's 25m pistol final on the final day of the latest ISSF World Cup stop in Lima.
Her victory contributed to an impressive overall medal tally for the Chinese shooting team, which concluded the event with 4 gold, 3 silver, and 6 bronze medals. The next stop for the competition will be in Munich in June.
In a tight final against India, both teams fielded three shooters. Sun and her teammate Yao Qianxun delivered consistent performances, scoring 11 hits out of 15 shots to lead the field. However, Zu Pengwen suffered early elimination in the knockout stage, finishing in eighth place.
As the final unfolded, Sun and Yao remained in medal contention alongside India's Simranpreet Kaur Brar. Manu Bhaker from India fought hard to stay in the competition, narrowly avoiding elimination on several occasions.
Ultimately, Sun emerged victorious by a single shot over Brar, while Yao secured a solid position just ahead of her. Unfortunately for Bhaker, her chances for a medal slipped away as she missed her last four shots, preventing her from making it onto the podium.
