Known as the "Queen of Flowers," the peony has long been a symbol of opulence and national pride in Chinese aesthetics. Established in 1984, the Luoyang National Peony Garden is a leading site for peony cultivation and research. It is home to hundreds of thousands of plants and over 1,300 varieties from China and abroad, including Japanese, American, and European strains, as well as hybrid species.

In spring, the garden bursts into vibrant life, with multicolored blooms set against the backdrop of traditional pavilions and flowing waters, creating an enchanting scene for visitors. Recent advancements in horticultural research have expanded the genetic pool and extended the blooming period, allowing peonies to bloom naturally into mid-May.
