Media delegation traces China's farming roots at Luoyang museum

As part of the "Journey to Chinese Civilization: Henan" program, a group of 27 journalists from 22 Latin American and Caribbean countries joined CGTN's reporting team on a cultural tour of central China's Henan Province. On April 22, the delegation visited the YTO Agriculture Cultivation Museum in Luoyang to gain firsthand insight into the evolution of agricultural practices in China and around the world.

Agriculture has been the backbone of Chinese civilization for over 5,000 years, and this museum – the first in China dedicated to modern farming – offers a unique perspective on that legacy. Blending historical artifacts and multimedia installations, the museum showcases the transformation of farming techniques, from ancient tools to the era of agricultural mechanization.

One highlight of the museum is an exhibition hall that features a collection of farming implements dating from prehistoric times up to the 1950s. It also includes archival images and materials documenting the introduction of tractors to China – an innovation that marked the nation's transition from traditional agrarian society to a modern industrialized one.

For many visiting journalists, the experience provided a tangible link between China's past and present. Through the exhibits of iconic Dongfanghong range of tractors, manufactured by the YTO Group Corporation, and interactive displays, the museum offered a window into China's technological progress and the enduring value of its agricultural heritage.
