World Athletics Diamond League Xiamen stop to begin on Saturday

The first stop of this year's World Athletics Diamond League series will get underway in Xiamen on Saturday, marking the third consecutive year the city has hosted the event.

The prestigious meet has attracted a substantial number of elite athletes from more than 50 countries and regions, including 19 Olympic gold medalists, 27 world champions, and 10 world record holders.

The Xiamen stop has gained prominence by witnessing some remarkable performances, with Mondo Duplantis setting a new pole vault world record of 6.24 meters last year.

China will send a number of elite athletes, including two-time world champion women's shot-putter Gong Lijiao, men's 200 meters Asian record holder Xie Zhenye, Paris Olympics discus silver medalist Feng Bin, Tokyo Olympics men's triple jump silver medalist Zhu Yaming, Paris Olympics women's shot-put bronze medalist Song Jiayan, men's pole vault national record holder Li Chenyang, and women's 60 meters hurdlers national record holder Wu Yanni.
