A plethora of peony flowers are now in full bloom at many sites of the Beijing Garden Expo in Fengtai District, attracting tourists to press their shutter to capture the beauty of late spring in China's capital.

With its opulent, vibrant and multi-layered blossoms, the peony reigns as one of nature's most extravagant creations and has embodied China's "flower of wealth and honor" for over 1,500 years. On April 23, Beijing launched a peony cultural festival at 17 parks and scenic spots across the capital with 800 species of peony flowers to promote floral tourism and related cultural creative products.
