China has revealed the Blue Whale, a cutting-edge high-speed unmanned submersible. It can reach surface speeds of 36 knots, dive to avoid extreme weather and remain submerged for over a month. The vessel will be used for research, underwater mapping, water sampling and inspections like submarine cable maintenance. The final phases are scheduled for completion before the vessel's anticipated operational debut in 2026.
