At around 1:17 p.m. on April 30, an explosion occurred in a residential complex in Xiaodian District, Taiyuan City, capital of north China's Shanxi Province. Local officials have confirmed that one person is dead, 21 others were injured, including six in serious condition, and two are missing. A total of 210 firefighters and 43 vehicles have been dispatched to the site. China's Ministry of Emergency and Management has launched a remote emergency response and dispatched a working group to assist with rescue efforts.
