As Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to pay a state visit to Russia from May 7 to 10 and attend the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Moscow, China Media Group (CMG) has recently launched a special event featuring high-quality Chinese television programs in the Russian capital.

The event aims to deepen cultural ties between the two nations, with more than 10 curated programs.

The launch ceremony included video messages from Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of CMG, and Galina Kulikova, first deputy chairperson of the Russia-China Friendship Association and a recipient of China's highest state honor for foreigners – the Friendship Medal.

In his remarks, Shen Haixiong highlighted the strong and resilient bond between China and Russia.

Shen also noted that under the leadership of both countries' heads of state, bilateral relations have reached new heights and continue to show strength amid global uncertainties.

This joint television showcase by CMG and Russian media is a concrete step in implementing the consensus reached by the two presidents, which strengthens people-to-people exchanges and solidifies the foundation of friendship between the Chinese and Russian peoples, he said.

Kulikova echoed the sentiment, speaking highly of the high-quality Chinese programs from CMG.

These programs will help Russian viewers understand the vivid reality of China's modernization and appreciate the country's rich history and culture, she said.

She expressed hope that the programs would further deepen mutual affection and understanding between the two peoples.

Other media professionals from both countries also attended the event.
