China clinched a record-extending 14th title at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Sudirman Cup after beating South Korea 3-1 in the final at home in Xiamen on Sunday.

In mixed doubles, the first match in the best-of-five championship clash, China's Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping beat Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung 21-16 in the first game. But the South Korean pair recovered to take the second 21-17. That forced a decider, which Feng and Huang claimed 21-15 to give the hosts a 1-0 overall lead.

In the women's singles contest, China's Wang Zhiyi lost to World No. 1 An Se-young 21-17, 21-16.

Shi Yuqi then cruised to a comfortable 21-5, 21-5 win over Jeon Hyeok-jin in men's singles, giving China a 2-1 overall edge.

Olympic women's doubles silver medalists Tan Ning and Liu Shengshu went on to seal the victory for the host nation after defeating third-ranked duo Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee 21-14, 21-17.

China's record-extending 14th title is also the squad's fourth in a row at badminton's top mixed team competition.
