China's consumer market showed strong vitality during the recently concluded five-day Labor Day holiday. Data from the Ministry of Transport shows that from May 1 to 5, total cross-regional passenger traffic nationwide was expected to reach 1.46 billion trips.
China also recorded over 1.1 million inbound and outbound trips by foreign nationals during the holiday, marking a 43.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Qu Qiang, a fellow at the Belt and Road Research Center at Minzu University of China, noted that various convenience policies and updated payment methods have made travel in China more enjoyable for foreigners.
