Houssem Aouar scored a last-minute goal to help Al Ittihad claim a 3-2 win at Al Nassr on Wednesday, overturning a 2-0 deficit and moving the club one step closer to clinching the Saudi Pro League title.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the hosts with a low shot in the third minute.

The Senegalese striker then set up Ayman Yahya, who doubled Al Nassr's lead in the 37th minute. The goal stood following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review, even though the ball appeared to have touched Mane's hand in the build-up.

Al Ittihad were the better side after halftime, and Karim Benzema cut the deficit to one with a header in the 49th minute.

Laurent Blanc's side equalized after a counterattack, finished off by N'Golo Kante, who slotted the ball into the home side's net.

Algerian midfielder Aouar then scored the winner from close range in stoppage time, following a cross from Moussa Diaby.

Al Ittihad, who can clinch a domestic double after reaching the King Cup final, extended their lead at the top of the table to 71 points, six ahead of Al Hilal with four matches remaining.

For Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr, now in fourth place with 60 points, the loss was a huge setback to their hopes of returning to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League Elite next season.

Al Ahli, who won the continental title last Saturday, will be joined in next season's tournament by two other Saudi Pro League teams, and the defeat knocked Al Nassr five points behind second-placed Al Hilal with the clock ticking down on their campaign.
