India launched military strikes on targets, including mosques, in Pakistan early on Wednesday morning, killing at least 31 civilians and injuring dozens others. It claims the strikes were in response to a deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam in the Indian-controlled Kashmir. Pakistan, which denies involvement in the Pahalgam incident, claimed downing five Indian fighter jets in the clash.

Bahawalpur in Pakistan's Punjab province is one of the cities targeted. CGTN Stringer Quddsia Awais interviewed locals in Bahawalpur about the attack. "India's attack was on the civilian population instead of their claimed terrorist organizations," a local named Khalilur Rehman said. "They made such a brutal act to target innocent children and holy mosques," said Javed Akhtar, another local.
