The boom in kung fu movies and martial arts schools has naturally drawn enthusiasts from across the globe to China. Many of them have gathered at Shaolin Temple – among the Songshan Mountains of Henan Province – to train in martial arts. Shaolin Temple is a millennium-old monastery that has become a bridge for dialogue between Eastern and Western civilizations. To see the practitioners from different countries moving in sync on the training ground, is to recognize that Shaolin kung fu has been evolving from a symbol of China into a shared cultural language for the world.
