President Xi Jinping's key quotes on China-CELAC cooperation

Chinese President Xi Jinping has made wide-ranging remarks on the friendship and cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries over the past years.

In 2014, President Xi proposed that China and Latin America and the Caribbean build a community with a shared future while delivering a keynote speech at the China-Latin America and the Caribbean Summit held in Brazil.

In the same speech, Xi revealed that leaders will jointly announce the official establishment of the China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum and the decision to hold the inaugural ministerial meeting as early as possible.

Since its first edition in Beijing in 2015, three ministerial-level meetings of the China-CELAC Forum have been held. The fourth will begin in Beijing in the coming days.
