China's first hydrogen-powered locomotive for commercial use has started trial operations on May 10. The locomotive is currently being used for shunting operations at Meijin Railway Station in Liupanshui City, southwest China's Guizhou Province. It can travel 140 to 150 kilometers on a single charge of 60 kilograms of hydrogen and has a hauling capacity of over 4,500 tonnes.
