China will mark International Museum Day with a series of events from May 17 to 19, with the Grand Canal Museum of Beijing serving as the main venue, the National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA) announced on Monday.

This year's celebration, themed "The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities," will highlight recent achievements in China's museum sector and promote greater public engagement. According to Luo Wenli, deputy head of the NCHA, key moments will include the unveiling of China's 2025 list of most innovative museums and the top 10 national exhibitions.

China has celebrated International Museum Day every year since joining the International Council of Museums in 1983.
