Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday said over the past decade, the China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum mechanism has become an essential platform for equal dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries, injecting new impetus into the building of a China-LAC community with a shared future.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while attending the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in Beijing.

Wang summarized the achievements made by the forum over the past decade.

First, strategic mutual trust has deepened. The two sides have maintained close high-level exchanges, and built a firm consensus on unity and development, leading China-LAC relations into a new stage of equality, mutual benefit, innovation and openness, with tangible benefits for both peoples, said Wang.

Second, practical cooperation between the two sides has continued to expand. He said more than 80 percent of the financing packages have been implemented and that the two sides have actively promoted the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative and LAC countries' development strategies.

Third, friendly momentum has continued to grow. The projects announced by China, including government scholarships and a training program for young Chinese and LAC leaders, have all been implemented, he said.
