Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and minister of foreign affairs, met with Honduran Foreign Minister Eduardo Enrique Reina Garcia in Beijing on Wednesday.
The two sides praised the success of the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC (the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum, noting it strengthened solidarity among Global South countries and reaffirmed support for multilateralism and international norms.
Wang thanked Honduras for its contribution as CELAC co-chair and expressed China's readiness to deepen cooperation with Honduras and other Latin American and Caribbean countries.
The top Chinese diplomat reiterated China's appreciation for Honduras' reaffirmation of its commitment to the one-China principle.
China supports Honduras in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, and national dignity and looks forward to strengthening political trust, expanding practical cooperation and enriching people-to-people exchanges, Wang said.
China is willing to share its experience in governance and development with Honduras and will continue to provide assistance within its capacity to support the improvement of people's livelihoods and capacity-building efforts in Honduras, Wang added.
Reina reaffirmed Honduras' firm commitment to the one-China principle, calling the establishment of diplomatic ties with China a correct and strategic decision.
He expressed hope to turn the two leaders' consensus into concrete results to benefit both nations.
