Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and minister of foreign affairs, met with Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramon de la Fuente in Beijing on Wednesday, with the two sides reaffirming the strength of China-Mexico ties and expressing readiness to deepen cooperation across multiple areas.
Noting that China and Mexico share similar historical experiences and common development goals and are both influential members of the Global South, Wang affirmed China's strong support for Latin American integration and unity and praised Mexico's active role in advancing China-Latin America cooperation.
Wang said China is ready to enhance coordination with Mexico within multilateral frameworks, jointly defend legitimate rights and interests, uphold multilateralism, oppose unilateralism and promote fair global governance, economic globalization, and free trade.
The top Chinese diplomat emphasized that China places its relationship with Mexico as a priority in its Latin American diplomacy.
Guided by the consensus of the two heads of state, China is willing to deepen strategic mutual trust, share its experience in Chinese modernization and offer the vast opportunities of its supersized market, Wang stressed.
He welcomed more high-quality Mexican products into the Chinese market and encouraged Chinese enterprises to invest in Mexico, expressing confidence in Mexico's stable and friendly business environment.
He also called for greater cultural and people-to-people exchanges, noting the rich civilizational roots shared by both nations.
De la Fuente congratulated China on the successful fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, coinciding with the forum's 10th anniversary. He expressed confidence that Latin America-China cooperation will enter an even more dynamic new decade.
The Mexican foreign minister highlighted the long-standing friendship between Mexico and China, rooted in mutual respect and shared values, and expressed Mexico's readiness to jointly safeguard the multilateral system and rules-based international order.
Mexico looks forward to deepening cooperation with China in connectivity, technology, agriculture and tourism, further enriching bilateral ties, de la Fuente added.
