According to Taiwan-based media, Taiwan region leader Lai Ching-te deliberately emphasized the "victory of the European war" 80 years ago in his recent open speech, while ignoring the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression – thereby distorting the history of World War II. The Chinese mainland strongly criticized Lai, stating that the separatists in Taiwan will only have a dead-end.
