China Media Group (CMG) won the prestigious Golden Award in the Video Short Feature category with its submission "Surface" at this week's 87th Association of International Press in Sports (AIPS) Congress in Morocco.

After multiple rounds of rigorous judging, 24 pieces of work were shortlisted across eight categories, with eight picking up the Golden Awards. Claiming top honors in the Video Short Feature category was "Surface," which was produced and directed by Cheng Jieni from the CMG Sports & Youth Center.

The film offers an intimate portrayal of the Chinese artistic swimming team's trials and triumphs, and perseverance and glory, as they pursued Olympic gold in Paris last summer, with the work documenting their historic victory in the French capital through an exclusive lens.

Standing out among 2,065 entries from 135 countries and regions, "Surface" underscores CMG's international standard in sports journalism, as well as China's growing influence in global sports culture.

"This year, we've received outstanding number of 2,065 submission, a record breaking number," said Nadine Alsheikh Hassan, AIPS Asia & MENA Media Coordinator. "In addition, with participations from 135 countries and regions, there is no award that was bigger than this one for sports journalists."
