Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen will pay an official visit to China from May 17 to 20 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian announced on Thursday.

Denmark was one of the first countries that established diplomatic ties with China and this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Denmark. Lin made the remarks at a daily news briefing when answering a relevant query.

Currently, the bilateral relations are developing well and the two countries have close cooperation in economy, trade, green and innovation, Lin said.

Both sides support multilateralism and free trade and have broad consensus on important issues such as climate change, Lin noted.

China is willing to work with Denmark to take this visit as an opportunity to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and promote the healthy and stable China-Denmark relations to continue to develop, Lin added.
