The U.S. needs to do what China did, "reform and opening," to maintain its position as one of several primary powers in the world, former U.S. diplomat Chas Freeman said recently in an online discussion. He also criticized the current U.S. tariff policy, calling it "one of the many ways in which the weird has been normalized theoretically in my country."
