NDRC: China's economy shows resilience with steady growth in April

02:14

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) spokeswoman Li Chao said on Tuesday that in April this year, China's economic performance remained robust across demand and supply fronts, according to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics. On the demand side, retail sales surged to more than $2.2 trillion from January to April, up 4.7 percent year-on-year, outpacing last year's growth by 1.2 percentage points. Trade diversification efforts paid off, with exports to Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, South Korea, Japan, and Central Asian nations accelerating. Supply-side momentum also strengthened. High-tech manufacturing surged, with a near 200 percent spike in server production and a 51.5 percent increase in industrial robot output. CGTN's Liu Jiaxin has the latest from a press conference held by the NDRC.
