The speaker of Zimbabwe's parliament, Jacob Mudenda, says legislative exchanges between China and Zimbabwe will be further strengthened to provide legal support for deeper bilateral cooperation. He led a parliamentary delegation to China from May 12 to 18 – his first official visit during his tenure.

In an interview with CGTN, he reflects on how the trip broadened his understanding of China's legislative strength, economic planning and poverty alleviation strategies.

From the historic foundation of China-Zimbabwe ties to new opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative, Mudenda says now is the time for parliaments across the Global South to work more closely – not only to drive development but to advance peace, dialogue and a shared future.
