Nestled in the heart of the southwestern Pacific Ocean, the Republic of Fiji, with its capital Suva, sits at the meeting point of Melanesia and Polynesia. Positioned along key air and sea routes between North America, Australia and New Zealand, Fiji is known as the "crossroads of the South Pacific."

Fiji is made up of over 330 islands, about one-third of which are inhabited. Most islands are volcanic and surrounded by vibrant coral reefs. As an island nation, Fiji boasts a well-developed maritime industry, with four major ports – Suva, Lautoka, Levuka and Malau. Suva Port is the largest and most important in the country. Ports and docks across towns ensure convenient inter-island transportation.

Fiji ranks among the world's most popular travel destinations. Its warm-hearted people and rich cultural diversity attract visitors from all over the globe. Tourists come to experience its stunning coastlines, romantic islands, lush tropical rainforests and dazzling coral reefs.
