Protests broke out in Taiwan region over the past few days as the island's leader Lai Ching-te completed his first year in office. Protestors voiced anger over what they see as poor governance and ineffective policymaking by the Taiwan authorities. 

CGTN Stringer spoke with residents in Taipei to understand their opinion about Lai's performance. A woman surnamed Deng said that the "green terror" in Taiwan has harmed the interests of locals and restricted their freedom of speech. A man surnamed Li believes that Lai Ching-te wants one-party dominance, which would mean purging all dissenting voices.
